MLA Ravi Rana and MP Navnit Rana have been agitating for farmers in Vidarbha since Friday. Police arrested the Rana couple on Sunday as they were leaving the house to present memoranuam to the chief minister along with some farmers. Both were detained at the Commissionerate of Police for four hours
.MLA Ravi Rana and Yuva Swabhiman Paksha activists had on Friday staged a dharne -in agitation on the Amravati-Nagpur highway demanding Rs 50,000 per hectare for relief to farmers affected by the bollworm and waiver of four-month electricity bill. The agitation caused traffic jams on the highway. Later, MLA Ravi Rana was arrested along with activists. He was later released on bail by a court today. On Monday, the Rana couple planed to vist Matoshri in Mumbai.
Vidarbha Express stopped
At Badnera railway station, Yuvasabhiman activists and farmers boarded the Vidarbha Express while activists blocked the train for MPs and MLAs. Railway police arrested 22 activists for obstructing the train. The Rana couple was released from the Police Commissionerate at 10 pm.
MP Navneet Rana said
We were going to give a statement to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray only on the issue of farmers but the Chief Minister was afraid of us.
